Snowskating has been a sport supported by passion. The passion of the riders. The passion of the builders. The passion of the ski mountain employees who were open to us at first & remain so to this day. But over the >20 years of this sports existence, few if any companies have made snowskates or hardware that whole time.
Many companies are owned by a single person, labored out of love & not profit, and because of that, sometimes life causes priorities to shift. Companies close, and particular products become hard to find. For those who have come, gone, and still are here today, we thank you.
If YOU, the rider, find a brand you like, a product you love to shred, support them, & build out your quiver while you can. It's nice to have a fleet to share, to pick from, to stare at in the sweaty months - it's not nice to see those options go sometimes. Get what you can, while you can, and support the others as passionate as you.
PS: Please forgive me if I have errors, am missing any companies, or an unsatisfactory paragraph. We'd love to hear from you & of your experience. Please shoot us an email at itsasnowskate@gmail.com and we will update this page as soon as we can.
Most affordable & accessible brand, this Minnesota based company is often demo'd across the US & Europe and has done a lot to spread the sport. Large range of snow conditions covered by 4 bideck options, as well as individual parts.
Quebec's only bideck company & sponsor of many of their local events, this company also has all the parts you need to build a snowskate, in addition to their own completes. Their trucks are found on Hovland's boards as well.
Idaho based Boyd Hill has been manufactured by hand for over a decade, providing some of the best all-mountain, deep snow to hard-pack capable boards available today, as well as providing all the hardware you need to assemble your own complete.
One of the first snowboard companies to make a solid snowskate, and the only to keep doing so to this day, Lib Tech (owned by Mervin Mfg) invented MagneTraction with snowskates in mind & has continued to build a solid fiberglass & wood completes for almost (over?) 20 years.
Colorado based Aloud has pioneered the 'skinny long ski' snowskate. Their proprietary 4-bolt truck designs are rugged & stable, and they've found a subski width that remains nimble yet secure, with (compared to others) a long & mellow sidecut that eats up all the crud on the trail. They provide all the parts you need, and work with Folsom Ski Co to build a very high quality sub.
The longboard company Landyachtz has gotten passionate about this snowsport as well. Their snowskate brand 'LY Snow' produces a few models and have helped spread the sport further in the PNW.
CO based Draw represents some of the best skate-like bi-decks available today. Fiberglass & wood construction, and an Alan Gerlach pro-model, these snowskates truly rip.
Handmade in BC, these all mountain and powder snowskates are reminiscent of the early days of Pioneer, with the latest hardware to allow one to tear up the trails
The latest 'big snowboard' company to get into snowskates, Jones has delivered. Their all mountain complete can shred, and we're excited to see what they come up with next.
Minus 7 has build skates in the shadow of Donner Ski Ranch for over a decade. Handmade maple decks and glass+wood skis, both with beautiful curves & finishes.
Legend has it, Opala carries on Florida powderskates' molds & their 130cm model sure looks the part. Nimble, but floa
The longest standing single deck snowskate company, Ambition has long supported their riders, created films, & provided hardware. Check them out!
The original axel-pivoting snowskate truck, Rocker Trucks provides a range of heights, geometries, and hub mounting configurations to suit all your needs, all with corrosion resistant & gorgeous colored-anodized Aluminum. They also carry risers & grab rails.
Utah's only company, Grassroots builds a wide range of ptex and wood single-level powdersurfers, enabling one to conquer the deepest of snows, and with their split-surfer options, hike back up. An inevitable evolution, in a place with limited snowskate options and legendary snow.
Wolfgang Nyvelt's snowsurfing company, these very 3D sinlgle-level powdersurfers have been a passion project of his for years, and he's progressed to some hardpack capability from a single level. Not an ice master, but a big improvement in blending powdersurfing with lift access.
Peacemaker is Japan's only snowskate builder, and has a range of board designs. We've watched the scene catch on over there, and they have some skilled and dedicated riders.
This VT based custom snowboard company has been exploring skateboards & snowskates, and I've seen a few of these very pretty & nimble blades in action. Have a design you want made that doesn't exist? Hit up Mtn Local.
This snowskate deck company has uniquely steep kicks & colored wood finishes that give your board a lot of POP. We've seen them play with sub designs too.
Russia's only snowskate company that we know of, we wanted to give them a shout out, even if we don't know much more than that. Udachi!
We've seen Donek make a few snowskates, including one very long & stiff one that's pushing speed records out in CO.
Australia's oldest skateboard builder has been playing with snowskates as well. Not reflected on their site yet, their Instagram shows the wheels are turning. If you're from down under, shoot them a message via the link below!
A new company to hit the scene, Haon is developing their own trucks & spikey grip, akin to Prism & GripAll, but their own diamond shapes! We believe they're working with Boyd Hill to supply addt'l truck & grip options for his completes.
One of the original garage-builders, Tahoe CA (or Reno NV?) based Ralston Snowskates built some of the best bamboo+fiberglass snowskate subs (and some years decks) we've ever had the pleasure of ripping. I'm biased, yes. But I want to call out these designs for being innovative, but traditional. Trying new sidecuts, with retaining traditional spring-loaded camber that holds an edge on ice. We salute you Danny, & hope you return to building these glorious boards some day, or share your secrets with some secret (not evil) apprentice.
If you have an opportunity to buy one of these: Don't miss out
Inspired by the legendary Ralston 41" Standard, Maryland based Parole Boards build snappy subs that were quick turning and held edges on ice (which I'm sure MD had a lot of ;-) ). We hope PB starts to build again, if anything to carry on that legendary shape in some form.
Only available used, primarily online, but worth it.
These companies have all closed completely, and respectively we have less hope than the category above. We thank you for your passion, & look eagerly to score whatever we can find of it (likely on Ebay/FB/wherever).
Another Tahoe-area based snowskate company, Predog offered all the hardware you needed, as well as completes, from tiny to huge. Their Hell-neen-yo trucks had a urethane bushing
Hey guess what? It's another Tahoe-area based snowskate company. Pioneer was another garage-based builder (mad admiration with that statement btw), building small park boards all the way to deep powder floaters. We haven't seen as many in person as we'd like, but we've heard very good things.
An Idaho based cabinet maker/woodworker discovered snowskating, and started building his own, as well as blogging his adventures around ID & his house. He'd developed highly adjustable trucks, deeply concaved & steeply kicked fiberglass & maple top decks, and wide nosed powderskate subs to carry him & others down wintery burn zones in the ID backcountry around his buddies yurt (I'm paraphrasing what I recall from the blog a decade later).
If you're the person with my old 36"x10" chillerdeck with his trucks, & a 136cm Florida Powderskate, I'd love to buy it back. Find our email here :-). Wish I never let it go...wah.
Not gonna lie, not sure why California based Florida Powderskate was called that, but they built some of the best powderskate subs at the time. Featuring wide noses, skinny tails, deep sidecuts, and a sorta-rocker profile called 'dolphin tech', these hot rods of the deep snow were all the rage in the late 00s. As alluded to above, we regret selling the one we had. Alas...
Fuse out of CO used to make complete single decks & 4x4s. We believe that after closing this company has morphed into Draw.
European hand made bi-deck completes. We forget if they were Austrian or German...If you have any details please share!
British Columbia based Circuit Snowskates carried various hardwares, as well as completes, which were particularly loved by snowskate legend Alan Gerlach (capable of ripping a single deck like a bi-deck - like, how!?!). The owner also ran Snowskaters.net, the original hub for all things snowskating (hey, Jordan, anyway we can dump archived stuff on here??))

Massachusetts based Icon Snowskates was started by Matt Plays, and while it closed in 2021, these maple+Ptex single-decks had innovative concave and were some of the best single-decks of their time.
The first big single deck company, in the 00s Premier sponsored & had individual boards for riders like Phil Smage, Alan Gerlach, & John Cardiel. They also had a unique bi-deck, with the top-deck being a single-deck, in case you wanted to disassemble it for that usage.
